Paul McCartney honors the late Brian Wilson, 82, who passed away Wednesday (June 11), calling his tunes “very unique” and “I like him.”

McCartney wrote on his Instagram account Thursday (June 12): “Brian has a weird musical feeling that makes his tracks so unique.”
He included: “I liked him and was honored to be around his brilliant light for a while. To be precise, without Brian Wilson, “God just understood.” Thanks, Brian.
Wilson’s deal with groundbreaking LP Family pet sound (1966) had a great impact on the successful seminar CD of McCartney and the Beatles, especially Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band (1967). McCartney considered “God just understood,” which was “one of the best tracks ever” and etched Wilson in 2000 on songwriter popularity.
McCartney spoke at the event and introduced his admiration for Wilson’s work. “Especially in the 60s, he wrote some songs and when I played it it made me cry and I really don’t really know why it’s a sentence or a song, it’s just such a deep point of view that only a particular song can do it for me…I think it means a great splendor, it’s a great song and a lot of songs and people in the hall that can do it.
He included: “Sir, thank you for making me cry. What can you do with songs – you just put these notes, consistency with each other, pasted a few words on the top, any kind of day you will definitely have me.”

In February 2024, it was revealed that his mental deterioration was discovered.
