The London-based punk instruction duo first announced their departure via Instagram, with its “logistical complications” being the official cause. “We decided not to join our friend Gogol Bordello for the upcoming European tour,” they wrote.

“However, we will be heading to Europe for festivals and championships in the coming months. Please post EU headlines as soon as possible.”

The move was triggered by Bob Vylan’s stage performance in June at West Holts in Glastonbury, where they expressed their support for Palestine, condemned Israel and led the crowd to shout “death to IDF.” The moment critics summoned comments, there was immediate backlash in online and international media.

The duo entered the festival stage in front of Kneecap, which was Israel’s support for Palestinians during the Hamas War.

This controversy spread quickly into their professional relationship. A venue in Cologne, Germany abandoned the show by Gogol Bordello after Bob Vylan initially announced as support. Gogol Bordello later shared his statement, clarifying that it was not our decision to cancel Cologne, but something we had no control. transparent

“After that, we need to evaluate the situation and we decided to remove the BV from the tour until we can fully understand the situation.”

Gogol Bordello noted that after the duo’s longer explanation of the speech to Glastonbury, they resumed their discussions with Bob Vylan. However, they concluded that “logically, this is impossible…in view of this situation” as support.

“We worked diligently with friend Bob Vylan and found a solution, but ultimately it didn’t solve it,” they said. “Gogol Bordello is made up of members from all races and celebrates international understanding. We look at freedom of speech from all angles.”

Bob Vylan faces a clear impact in the weeks following Glastonbury’s performance. The two pulled out of the Manchester Radar Festival lineup, withdrew their U.S. visas and reportedly parted ways with their agents. Damon Albarn called it controversial in an interview last week, calling it “one of the most spectacular fires I’ve ever seen in my life.”

But the duo also found high-profile supporters: Chuck d Chuck D of the public enemy said unity under a massive attack, urging the media to focus on “what happens every day in the Gaza people.”

Bob Vylan illuminates their place in a long statement. “We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or a group of people. We are for the removal of violent military machines…We are like in the spotlight before us, not stories. We are distracted by stories. No matter the sanctions we get, we are distracted.”

Bob Vylan performed their first British show at London 100 club Glastonbury last week, asking fans to stop chanting “death” as a small group of attendees tried to restore the hymns.

Meanwhile, Gogol Bordello’s European tour will begin in September, which includes a UK date and a titled show at London’s Electric Ballroom on 1 November.
