Elton John is preparing to release his new collaborative album with Brandi Carlile next week, but the new interview has allowed the prolific artist to reveal the upcoming record, which put him in the face of mortality.
John and Carlisle’s new record, Who believes in angels?scheduled to be released on April 4, with its title track and singles such as “Fence Swing” arrived. When announcing the record, John explained that it had been greatly influenced on both sides of the spectrum, describing it as “one of the toughest hardest I’ve ever made” and “one of the greatest musical experiences of my life.”
In a new episode No cleverness The podcast was released to subscribers on Tuesday, March 25 – John’s 78th Birthday – The musician revealed that the album’s closing track is closer to home than previous songs due to its rather relevant theme.
“I wrote a song at the end of the album and I just got the lyrics, the lyrics of Bernie Taupin,” John explained, “I was writing this verse and it was like ‘Oh, it was really beautiful.’ Then I went to the chorus, of course it was about my death.
“When you get to my age, almost 100, you’re thinking, ‘How much time did I leave?'” he continued, continuing before his thoughts turned to husbands David Furnish and Sons Zachary and Elijah. “You have kids, you have a great husband, you just think about mortality. So when I got to the chorus, I fell down for 45 minutes – it’s all in the movie.”

“I want everyone to see it because it’s really human, like deep flaws and embarrassment,” Carlisle added. “The kind of really fun thing you do when you forget you have a camera. ”
An upcoming episode No cleverness The podcast will be officially released to all listeners on March 31, and it also sees John reflecting on his earliest days as a solo musician. “I never thought I was a solo artist,” he explained. “When I was in a group, blues, I took a big risk of going to freely record and saying, ‘I want to write songs, I’m tired of playing in a band that I don’t want to go anywhere, I can sing too.'”
