Why Is Everyone Wearing a Crochet Skullcap?

Earlier this month, the international fashion environment flocked to Copenhagen to participate in the 2026 Spring Fashion Week. It seems everyone has a memo, wearing a small crochet skull.

The streets of Denmark are filled with hats of various colors, some decorated with beads, and some are more like nets. Chloe King, director of fashion and lifestyle at Saks Global, is one of the fans of Copenhagen Trends, although her Alessandro Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-Michele-The Gucci hat has been aired for many seasons. She said: “A few years ago, I first wore a Gucci hat in New York and commented to friends and colleagues.

There was no editorial group chat, and everyone decided to wear a hat (I can be sure), but King said the trend has been brewing for some time. “The passion for hats has been built over the past few seasons, so fashionable Danish girls will be the right trend,” she said. “Crochet especially feels like a natural part of Copenhagen’s fashion term, adding the quality of crafts to the smallest pieces like shelter or denim.”

Mandy Lee (aka @oldloserinbrooklyn), creator and author of fashion content, notes that hats are suitable for trend cycles. “One of the most common trends in the 2020s is an obsession with nostalgia. Fashion fashion in the early 70s of the early 2000s.” (American girl doll fanatics may recognize Julie Albright’s hat wearing Belbertom’s.)

Lee also added: “I think there is definitely more.” No trend declined, Quoth Kamala Harris emerged from the coconut tree. Lee first pointed out the swimsuit-style skull on the Prada 2024 runway. The brand doubled with the same tight hat, but had a more traditional braid at the men’s clothing show in fall 2024.

Now, Lee sees this emerging trend as a product of cultural migration to the right. (This is also similar to the covers of religious heads, such as Kuffi and Yarmoor.) “We have taken a move now in our way and can be vibrant now, with a conservative shift in the head and face cover,” she said. She now sees it as a consistent thread. Response to surveillance culture and Balaclav and Mask.

Despite the darker undercurrents, Lee believes the crochet skeleton trend is emerging and may peak this winter as temperatures drop. “There is a pre-approved purchase from fashion history, and that’s always a factor: it does exist,” she said. “There is some history of scrutiny that I think will make people more safely involved in the trend.”
